AIRCHIME was founded in 1929, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada as a proprietorship, with its principal emphasis being the manufacture of steam whistles for locomotives, ships, and factories. In 1948, the founder of the company invented and patented the first air horns that faithfully duplicated the sound of traditional steam locomotive whistles. This was necessitated due to the introduction of the diesel locomotive.
AIRCHIME was incorporated in 1954. The company's head office is located in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. The company owns and operates a 12,250 sq. ft facility that was constructed in 1996.
AIRCHIME products are also manufactured by licensees in the United States of America and Great Britain.
AIRCHIME'S facility includes one of the largest anechoic test facilities in the world and employs state-of-the-art acoustical test equipment and instrumentation.
AIRCHIME is one of only a few companies in the world capable of original research and development of acoustic signaling products.
